Nov. 13

I awoke as usual before Babette and Anastasia and prepared for my now customary morning walk across the grounds. To-day I intended to reach the perimeter, having not seen it, except from my window, since I was a very small child and Mother and Father would carry me in the garden in fair weather.

I found when I opened the door that snow had fallen in the night and now uniformly covered the ground about the Manor to the depth of my knees. I had not remembered gloves but did not want to risk awakening my sisters with another trip up the stairs, so I kept my hands in my coat pockets, but even this did not wholly deter the teeth of the wind.

Finally, when I was quite out of breath, I discerned a dark line some yards ahead through the fog. Thinking this to be perhaps a low stone wall marking the boundary of the property, I hastened forth and reached the obstruction in a state of excitement. A servant or a gardener had detained me at my sisters' orders every morning before I had ever made it this far.

What I saw was no wall, but a dense tangle of brambles which were quite bare, and rang most unfamiliar in my memory, misty and indistinct though I must admit that it is. And then I recalled an afternoon some months previous, which I had not marked with any great importance at the time. Babette had been ordering the servants about and I had seen them coming and going over the threshold with trowels and dirtied gloves, some of them sucking their fingers and complaining of thorns whenever my sister was out of earshot. Only now did I realize that she must have set them about planting these brambles. But why?

I reached out to test one of the thorns, which looked quite wicked. It was sharper than I had expected and punctured my finger with the faintest brush, enough that, as I withdrew my hand, two drops of blood landed on the snow at my feet.

I wonder if perhaps there is something to what some of the servants are saying about my sisters.

Remember the Webb kids? Still no distinct plot or meaning to any of this. Webb Manor is my happy little tongue-in-cheek gothic playground.
I'll probably be parading out a bunch of my dark/morbid characters in succession--'TIS THE SEASON. Gregor hasn't left me alone lately. Gott dang, I wanna go paint my nails like Tad's.

Ahahahaha! :tombstone:

INORITE? I'm hesitant to go and label it "Victorian" for absolutely certain 'cause I'm not incredibly up to speed on the finer points of my historical time periods, BUT I WAS LEANING TOWARDS THAT ERA so hey, cool! :toast:

THADEUS!!! Aaaaaw, haven't seen him in ages! The color scheme on this is really great, and it's good to see 'im again. :)
BAH, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT ANYTHING AFTER THE 1920'S JUST BLENDS TOGETHER?

Seriously, though. It's still cool to leave time periods ambiguous. Then you can have anachronisms that AREN'T anachronisms!

If he doesn't clean and seal that wound quick, he's going to attract vampires...

ALSO this picture and your enthusiasm have made me SO EXCITED FOR HALLOWEEN! I had to go buy some foody-doody at the evil death store and PUMPKINS were on sale and I was ABOUT TO 'SPLODE. I WISH I WERE COOL AND HAD SOMETHING PLANNED FOR HALLOWEEN! Maybe if it falls on a week day I'll paint my face and wear all black and send some sort of political or social message like a good college student.

GUESS WHAT! nightmare before christmas.

BWAHAHAHA

also, your writing here is FABULOUS. Do more spooky.
BRITTANY HALLOWEEN IS ON A WEDNESDAY. I know this because Tyler knows this. Every time I go into a grocery store now I 'splode, too. I'm a jerk and I put about a million B movies in the the cart at the 99 cent store when mom was shopping yesterday. I GOT NOSFERATU WITH A NEW SOUNDTRACK BY TYPE O NEGATIVE. Man.
